The Dragon and the Weasel

The dragon guarded her cave. Olaf, the weasel, watched. Olaf knew this dragon. She was Nana. Nana guarded dragon gold! And Olaf wanted it. He was determined to steal it.

The dragon was huge, at least a million times bigger than Olaf. She was bright pink and her wings were even pinker. They were hot pink. And Nana’s scales were rainbow-colored. Her belly was covered in little spikes.

Olaf had never touched Nana before. He thought her scales would feel rough and her little spikes might actually cut him.

Olaf thought Nana looked like trash, but she smelled fabulous! Like cotton-candy! Yum!

For as long as Olaf had been crouched here, Nana had been making noises that sounded just like a very loud cat purring. The sound paralyzed Olaf. Cats were very scary.

Suddenly, a mouse strolled by. He was eating cheese. Blech! Cheese was so bitter. Olaf did not like cheese.

Olaf couldn’t stop being afraid, but he wanted that gold more than anything. He wanted to be the richest weasel in the world. He decided to call Nana’s mom. He pulled out his cell phone and called Nana’s mom.

When she answered, he said, “Your daughter is hogging all the food in our area. You need to take her on a diet vacation! Right away!”

Nana’s mom replied, “How can I trust you? You are a weasel. I’ve been lied to before by a weasel!” Darn! Olaf thought.

He would have to use his magical farts. Fart! Fart! Fart! A very stinky smell permeated the area. He breathed in deeply. Such a lovely stink.

All of a sudden the dragon sneezed and jumped! Her force caused Olaf to cartwheel in the air. He landed on his back but rolled over quickly. Nana flew away as fast as she could.

Muah-haha! Olaf cackled with laughter! He had won!

He ran into the cave. It was dark, but he had excellent eyesight. There was no gold! But, there were two paths – one leading to the left, the other leading to the right. He chose the right and scurried down further into the cave.

When he turned the corner he ran into a giant sandcastle. It blocked the entire path. Olaf was good at tunneling. He dug through the castle. On the other side, he shook off all the sand and kept going. Then he ran into a Wheel of Fortune. The wheel offered all the dragon gold as an option, but it also had many traps. He decided to go around it instead.

But when he ran past, he hit an invisible force field that threw him back. Darn! He would have to spin the wheel. And so he did. It went round and round and finally landed on… Cheese!

A trap door opened and 3,000 tons of cheese fell on Olaf. Oh no, cheese! Why did this happen? Some of it got in his mouth and it was gross. He tried to spit it out.

He realized that his leg was broken. He quickly made a splint out of cheese rind. He threw up everywhere as he dragged himself past the cheese. It was so disgusting.

He limped down the path and suddenly there was gold. He had never been happier. But the mouse was already there! He was taking all the gold.

“Whoa! Wait! Hi! I’m Olaf. I’m a really great weasel, and I make a great friend. Let’s be friends and share all the gold!”

“No way,” said the mouse. “I want it all for myself!”

They fought and fought.

Suddenly the dragon was back. “Hey, what are you doing? No one gets the gold but me!”

She kicked them out. Olaf was very sad. He did not get the gold. He would not be the richest weasel, ever.

Meanie Nana!
