Hi, my name is Kristi Wright and I write for children of all ages (including grown-ups like me.) I write picture books and middle grade novels.

I’m married to a great guy, have a really cool daughter, and two cats–one oh so sweet and the other a bit more dangerous. I have a background in marketing, public relations and computer programming.

From March 2015-March 2020, I was a regional team member (Assistant Regional Advisor) for the Society of Children’s Books Writers and Illustrators, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. I helped organize conferences and other events for writers and illustrators. Now, I focus on managing one of our region’s writer-focused book clubs. For more about this wonderful KidLit organization, go to: www.scbwi.org.

I’m the assistant editor and founding contributor for a blog that provides craft analysis of middle grade novels: KidlitCraft.com.

My indie-published, futuristic series The Basker Twins in the 31st Century includes:

Danger at the Clone Academy
The Mystery of the Pendant
The Return of the Vlemutz

The series raises funds and awareness for the childhood-onset disease, Friedreich’s ataxia. Click here to read more about this series, especially the first few chapters of each book.

I love to do writing workshops at Elementary and Middle Schools that focus on writing with a strong point of view and tons of sensory detail. You can find many of the dragon and alien stories that I’ve helped 3rd through 8th grade classrooms write by clicking here.

I’m a big fan of adventures written for children of all ages.  I adore books by JR Tolkien, CS Lewis, and Madeleine L’Engle, to name just a few of my favorite “classic” authors. I’m also a huge fan of today’s authors, such as Lindsay Lackey, Kate O’Shaughnessy, and Lisa Moore Ramee.

Happy Reading!!!
